Maintenance, Diagnostics, and Repair

Vantage Auto Service provides diagnostics, maintenance, and repair for European and select import vehicles. We work regularly with BMW, Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, and select import vehicles. Our focus is on proper diagnosis, clear communication, and repairs completed correctly — not guesswork, shortcuts, or unnecessary parts replacement. We service vehicles that are out of warranty, aging out of dealer care, or needing a more careful independent approach.

Routine Maintenance

We handle regular maintenance for European and import vehicles, including: Oil and filter service, Brake fluid service, Coolant service, Transmission service, Differential and transfer case service, Spark plugs and ignition service, Air, cabin, and fuel filters, Belt and hose inspection/replacement, Battery testing and replacement, Factory-scheduled maintenance, Pre-trip and seasonal inspections, Maintenance is performed based on the vehicle, mileage, service history, and actual condition.

Diagnostics

A large part of our work is diagnostic. We inspect, test, and diagnose check engine lights, warning lights, fault codes, misfires, rough running, no-start and hard-start concerns, battery drain, charging system issues, electrical faults, sensor and module faults, cooling system faults, oil leaks, fluid leaks, suspension noises, brake noises, drivability concerns, and transmission shifting issues. Modern European vehicles often require more than a basic scan.

Brakes

We service brake systems including pads, rotors, brake fluid, calipers, hoses, brake warning lights, ABS and traction control faults, parking brake systems, brake noise, and brake vibration concerns. We use parts appropriate to the vehicle and the way it is driven. On European vehicles especially, rotor and pad matching matters.

Steering, Suspension, Alignments

We inspect and repair steering and suspension systems including control arms, bushings, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, struts, shocks, springs, air suspension components, sway bar links, alignment issues, clunks, knocks, vibrations, and uneven tire wear. We also perform wheel alignments after suspension repairs or when tire wear, pulling, or steering angle concerns are present.

Cooling Systems

We diagnose and repair cooling system issues including coolant leaks, overheating, water pumps, thermostats, radiators, expansion tanks, hoses, fittings, cooling fans, and heater performance concerns. Many European vehicles use plastic cooling system components that age and fail with heat and time. We inspect the system as a whole rather than replacing one visible part and ignoring the rest.

Transmission and Drivetrain Service

We perform transmission and drivetrain maintenance and repairs including automatic transmission service, DSG and dual-clutch service where applicable, differential service, transfer case service, driveline inspection, shift quality diagnosis, and fluid leak inspection. Transmission service requirements vary significantly by vehicle, mileage, fluid type, and transmission design.

Tires and Wheels

We provide tire mounting, balancing, repairs, rotation, replacement, tire wear diagnosis, and alignment checks. Tires are part of the vehicle’s suspension, braking, and handling system. Uneven wear often points to an underlying issue that should be inspected.

Vehicle Inspections

We offer vehicle inspections for maintenance planning, diagnosis, purchase decisions, and provincial registration requirements, including BC out-of-province inspections. This can include general vehicle inspections, pre-purchase inspections (PPI), used vehicle condition checks, brake and suspension inspections, leak inspections, warning-light inspections, and photo-based documentation where helpful.

Electrical and Electronic Systems

We diagnose and repair electrical concerns including battery and charging system faults, alternator and starter issues, lighting faults, power window and lock issues, sensor faults, communication and module faults, wiring faults, parasitic battery drain, and basic coding, adaptation, and resets where applicable. Electrical diagnosis takes time and methodical testing. We do not replace modules or sensors simply because a fault code mentions them.

Intake Valve Cleaning and Walnut Blasting

Some direct-injection engines develop carbon buildup on the intake valves, causing rough running, misfires, poor performance, or drivability issues. Where appropriate, we offer intake valve inspection and walnut blasting service for affected engines, including many BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, and MINI applications.

Select Specialty Work

We may take on select specialty work depending on the vehicle and scope, including suspension changes, exhaust repairs, electronic installations, and certain performance-related repairs or modifications. These jobs are considered case by case. Our priority remains proper service, diagnosis, and repair work for European and import vehicles.

Shop Rates

Our general shop rate is $175.00/hr plus tax and shop supplies. Diagnostic time is billed at $195.00/hr plus tax and shop supplies. Diagnostic time is billed separately because electrical, drivability, warning-light, noise, leak, and module-related concerns often require testing, road testing, scan-tool work, service information, and experience before a repair estimate can be made.
